The Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of England and Wales and its Districts and Councils Overseas was formed on the 29th July 1873, being sponsored by the Grand Council of New York, USA. Grand Council currently comprises the following officers (Past Ranks included at all levels):-
An assembly of Grand Council is held annually in the month of April (normally the third Tuesday) at Mark Masons’ Hall. Every Companion of the Order, not being a member of Grand Council may be present at the annual meeting, with permission of the Grand Master, but is not entitled to speak or vote. The Grand Master and the Grand Treasurer are elected at each annual meeting. The Grand Master is then installed and appoints and invests Companions to active and Past Ranks. Grand Council possesses the inherent power of enacting laws and regulations for the government of the Order and of altering, repealing and abrogating them. It also has the power of investigating, regulating and deciding all matter relative to the Order and alone possesses the authority for erasing Councils and expelling members.
